Let’s go for a walk in 2023!

We are excited about Walk the Talk for Epilepsy – 2023. Last year’s walk was delayed, postponed, and rescheduled because the COVID pandemic changed how we gather but not the passion and dedication we have to support those with epilepsy. All seven (7) Walk the Talk for Epilepsy walks throughout Florida were completed as of May 16, 2022. We had a fantastic turnout for the walks, and we raised $415,000 combined because of you.

New elements will be added to all the walks. Make sure to participate in the decision-making and share our point of view.

Walk the Talk for Epilepsy is the largest community event in the area that raises awareness and funds for individuals living with epilepsy. Over 500,000 individuals in Florida struggle with epilepsy, making it the state with the most instances in our country. Epilepsy, a common neurological condition that one in 26 people will be diagnosed with at some point in their lives, is a diagnosis when a person experiences two or more seizures that cannot be attributed to another cause. It is a disorder more people live with than autism, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy – combined. Epilepsy impacts every aspect of one’s life and every person in it, and the number rises when you include the families and caregivers.

Are you passionate about bringing awareness and helping those who struggle with Epilepsy? Do you want to get more involved with the Epilepsy Alliance Walk the Talk for Epilepsy? Then we need you! Join your local Walk the Talk Planning Committee and help grow the movement from the ground up.

Committee members plan each Walk the Talk for Epilepsy event from the kick-off to the wrap-up. Activities of your local committee include the following:

Responsible for recruiting and managing relationships with new and past sponsors
Team Recruitment
Responsible for recruiting new teams and helping them get set up for success
Team Retention
Responsible for managing relationships with past Walk teams
Marketing & Outreach
Responsible for creating awareness of the disorder and Epilepsy Alliance Florida through the promotion of Walk the Talk for Epilepsy
The PLM-Advocacy
Responsible for recruiting new Epilepsy Alliance Florida Power of Local Movement (PLM) members and advocates from all sectors of the community
Mission
Responsible for organizing activities that focus on the Epilepsy Alliance Florida mission at committee meetings, wrap-around events, and on Walk day
Logistics
Responsible for overseeing day-of-event logistics and volunteers
